Description

The North American Transborder Freight Database contains freight flow data by commodity type and by mode of transportation (rail, truck, pipeline, air, vessel, and other) for U.S. exports to and imports from Canada and Mexico. It allows users to analyze movement of merchandise by all land modes, waterborne vessels, and by air carriers.

Data Description
Collection Mode
Electronic transmission by exporters and importers to the Census Bureau and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) respectively. CBP then sends export data to Census. There is also a data exchange between Census and Statistics Canada, where the Census Bureau receives data on U.S. exports to Canada.
